Roc Nation signs Romeo Santos to their newly formed division.
June 8 proved to be a major stepping stone in the expansion of Roc Nation as they added another major artist to their management team while simultaneously launching a new division.
Romeo Santos was named the newest member of the Roc Nation Management team as he was signed as the CEO of the newly created Roc Nation Latin. Roc Nation Latin will serve as a “full service entertainment division of Roc Nation focused on developing and cultivating Latin talent while providing marketing, endorsement deals, philanthropic support, media relations and brand strategy,” according to a statement. Johnny Marines, who is also Santos’ manager, will serve as the president of Roc Nation Latin.
In a statement, Shawn “Jay Z” Carter said Santos “has had a tremendous success as a composer and producer and can spot true talent.” With the expansion to the Latin side of music, Jay Z said Roc Nation is “proud and ready to enter into true partnership with
an individual that intimately lives and knows [the Latin] culture.”
Santos is most known for both his solo career and the time he spent as the lead artist for the multi-platinum Bachata group Aventura. Both of Santos’ solo albums have been Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)-certified platinum. The first, Formula, Vol. 1, going three times platinum and the second, Formula, Vol. 2, going 11 times platinum.
Santos said in the statement he idolizes Jay Z as both an artist and a business mogul and sees this as a “great opportunity to give back all that [he has] learned during the past few years to new talent.”
