Rapper Lil Wayne Reportedly Suffers Multiple Seizures On Airplane

Lil’ Wayne‘s personal jet was forced to make more than one emergency landed after the rapper suffered multiple seizures while his airplane was in the air.

Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.–better known as the 33-year-old New Orleans-rapper Lil’ Wayne–was traveling from Wisconsin to California earlier this afternoon, according to celebrity news website TMZ, when he suffered a seizure in the air. Wayne reportedly lost consciousness after the seizure occurred and the pilot made an emergency landing in Omaha, Neb. After landing, paramedics were available to tend to the artist, but he instead refused any medical treatment.

Shortly after taking off from the Omaha, Neb. airport, the rapper suffered another seizure minutes after the plane had taken off. The pilot made another emergency landing at the Nebraska airport and this time around Wayne was transported to CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center via ambulance, Omaha television station KETV reported. Sources told TMZ the artist lost consciousness again.

In an email to Reuters, Derek Sherron, Wayne’s spokesman, said Wayne is in stable condition at the hospital.

“Under the guidance of his own doctors, he is now in stable condition and good spirits,” Sherron wrote to Reuters. “He thanks his fans for their everlasting support, prayers and well wishes.”

The two seizures that occurred today aren’t the only publicly documented cases of Wayne having been transported to the hospital. In both 2012 and 2013, TMZ also reported two other Wayne seizures. The former occurred two days in a row and the latter was the worst of the seizures.

In the 2013 case, TMZ reported Wayne was hospitalized for more than five days. During his stay, they also reported his stomach was pumped three times due to a suspicion he had overdosed on the drug codeine–the most prominent ingredient in lean, a potentially deadly drink. Wayne has stated in the past he has suffered from epileptic seizures since his childhood and that he also stopped drinking lean. A video surfaced last night of Wayne with two styrofoam cups–commonly referred to as a double cup–which normally is used when drinking the codeine mix.

Fans have been eagerly waiting the next project to be released by Wayne after having gone a couple of years without releasing a studio album. Currently he is set to release Tha Carter V, but due to some issues with the label, it has been indefinitely delayed. His most recent project I Am Not A Human Being II, is the artists’ latest release.
