New Hip-Hop Saturday: Featuring French Montana, Drake, Gucci Mane and More

As hectic as any other day of the week can be for new music releases–generally occurring on Tuesdays or Friday–fans shouldn’t forget that every day of the week is capable of hosting a slew of new music.

Continuing his absolute hot streak since his release from prison, Gucci Mane hops on the remix to the latest French Montana single, “Lockjaw.” The single also features Floridian rapper Kodak Black–best known for his breakout hit “Skrrt.” The Gucci verse sounds slightly out of place, possibly due to a rushed mix, but it’s a new verse leading up to the release of Everybody Looking on July 22. The other verses on the song do, however, remain unchanged.

Saturday brought on not one, but three new French Montana tracks. The second of the three was a song called “Two Times.”

The third of the new Montana songs was his collaboration with Drake titled “No Shopping.” The song, as were the other Montana releases, premiered on the 25th episode of OVOSound Radio. In the track, Drake opens up his verse with a couple of bars taking shots at Joe Budden–who has released a couple of diss songs toward Drake in the past couple of weeks.

There are tweets, however, according to XXL, that the Drake verse in the song was altered to now include the Joe Budden shots. Listen to the track below:

In addition to the new shots by Drake, Joe Budden fired back with yet another diss track. It’s unclear whether or not this song was written before Budden heard Drake’s latest verse, but it was still released. In the song, he samples some Drake lines and calls him out by name to make it known who he is talking about. Not only is the song a diss toward Drake, the cover art also features what looks to be the CN Tower in Toronto burning–another shot toward the Toronto native.
