Yesterday, Virgil Abloh released his rendition of what was supposed to be the cover to Pop Smoke’s posthumous debut album Shoot for the Moon, Aim at the Stars.
The cover was met with less than stellar feedback across social media. Memes, criticism, and a very minuscule number of supporters made the image viral. Not even an hour after it was released, Steven Victor took to Twitter to write, in a series of tweets, that he will be seeking an alternate cover ahead of its Friday release.

POP WOULD LISTEN TO HIS FANS ❗️

Given the situation, I wanted to look into what were some other not-so-great album covers that I’ve come across in my years of listening to hip hop. I’ll keep it at that because if I jumped to other genres, the list would be too long. Granted, of course, this list is not exhaustive and also subjective and in no particular order.
While bad covers are not directly correlated with bad music, I’m offering no explanation for these because some of their content speaks for itself. What do you think are some pretty bad hip hop album covers?
