Boston’s Gillian drops new single ‘static’

Ahead of the release of her upcoming debut album 3AM, Boston-based Gillian released her second single “static.”

The new single follows her last release “high,” which dropped in late April, coupled with a video. The steady stream of new releases follows her 2019 EP Unfiltered which released under the name Gillian Heidi.

In “static,” Gillian paints the picture of not wanting to go out with friends, but also having FOMO for not going. The track flows throughout the course of Gillian’s night with her voice gliding through each lyric that intertwines with the previous. The song starts out with her vocals over a light piano and then with a beat change, jumps into an uptempo pop record. Pouring her emotion into the track, she looks toward her next release.

She told Eat This Music the decision to release the song now is ironic.

“My decision to release it now was out of pure excitement,” she said. ” But recently I’ve found so much irony in it. The fact that the song is about not wanting to go out, and now [that] no one can, [it’s] definitely a little ironic.”

Just before the release of “static,” Gillian revealed what appears to be the tracklist for 3AM. Gillian looks to follow the incredible success of Unfiltered with this new project.

You can find Gillian on Twitter and Instagram (both @Gillian_Music).
