As we approach the one year anniversary of A Bad Porno, WHYTRI, as ready as he’s ever been, drops a new single “GoGo Gadget”.

The new single officially opens the door for what we might expect from an artist who has been relatively dormant for the last couple of months. We last wrote about WHYTRI after his show in March, but now with this single, we’re getting an EP.

As you could have imagined, the idea behind “GoGo Gadget” comes from Inspector Gadget, a bionic police inspector who was able to transform himself.

“I thought it was tight how Inspector Gadget could shift into anything,” WHYTRI wrote. “So when I say ‘GoGo Gadget’ [it] means I’m about to shift into gear [and] get it cracking … with anything I am doing.”

NEW EP

The track serves as the lead single to his upcoming EP Hot Boy Baby — a project he said is more for him than his fans. This is not to say he didn’t have his fans in mind when creating it.

“I wanted to see if I was ready to create a body of work that was vastly a product of me behind the scenes,” he wrote. “By that I mean I handled the recording, mixing, mastering, production — with the help of a beat by Nick Costa — and roll out creative direction.”

The beat came to fruition by accident. He said he was working on mixes at The Shield HQ and thought it would be a great beat for YG, but without the contact, he decided to hold on to it.

WHYTRI tapped ALMTY Yami for help with the photography direction and edits while the visuals, when they release, are shot and edited by Ceaser LaTorre. The cover art was done mostly by Yami with direction from WHYTRI so it had the James Brown, Black Dynamite feel. Listen to the track and drop those shields.
