From what we’ve heard him release, we know that Rome has an affinity with R&B and Soulful tracks. His newest single, “Banga Dat/Shaku”, definitely changes what we’re used to hearing from him. The song finds Rome with a little bit more energy and on a more upbeat instrumental.
“I want people to feel like they can be themselves when they hear the song,” he wrote. “Break out your best Shaku! We would like to see it.”
Rome says the track is all about “having fun and dancing.” Produced by Rome with some added bass and guitar from Danny Keyz, “Banga Dat/Shaku” brings both Rome and Edwino together.
“The record…came together organic,” he wrote. “It’s one of my favorite songs I’ve made to this date. I sent [Edwino] the beat a few weeks ago [and] he loved it and sent it right back with a verse.”
For as long as he can remember, Rome has had a passion for music. He said he remembers rapping with his older cousin Dougba on a recorded radio cassette. They would listen to the recordings on their way to church all the while he was eight years old. A lot of his inspiration in music comes from his family.
While he finds the reception for his last project to be good, Rome said he feels as though people are still getting into what he does as an artist.
“The ones that know really appreciate my music,” he wrote. “I have a lot of ideas and goals I’d like to accomplish soon.”
