Vancouver met the Middle East last night for a stop on their multi-nation tour with Cloud Cluster while supporting Kasbo.
The Vancouver we’re referring to is the Australian band Vancouver Sleep Clinic and the Middle East is a reference to the longtime music venue and restaurant in Cambridge, a city adjacent to Boston. Though not an exceedingly large venue, fans still managed to squeeze in and fill the venue from wall to wall awaiting the arrival of their beloved bands.
Merch tables lined the outer edge of the venue’s downstairs, where the concert was being held, with fans making their purchases in between acts. The stage was poised for the arrival of the Tim Bettinson-led Brisbane, Australia band.
The lights dimmed and the three-piece band hit the stage with their admirers clamoring for a handshake from the band’s lead singer.

Donning a hat with “Saint Lamvert 1529” embroidered on the front and rocking a dope long sleeve from the Korean brand BSRABBIT. Bettinson opened his set and his distinct falsetto voice reverbed through the venue speakers feeling almost as if it were comforting his fans. With the stage LEDs shining on the band, they mixed new and old tracks and spoke to the crowd between songs.
The sounds of cuts such as “Ayahuasca,” “In the End” and “Someone to Stay” were heard. The former two from their 2018 EP Therapy Phase 01 and the latter being from their 2017 album Revival. Fans sang along with Bettinson who, at one point, broke out in a guitar solo.
At one point, the band went into their rendition of Drake‘s “Don’t Matter to Me,” a track off of his 2018 double album Scorpion that features the late Michael Jackson. When they closed the show out, Bettinson extended a casual meet and greet offer to the audience and delivered.
