After having had a quiet presence until this summer. Funk/rock/rap band N*E*R*D has broken their seven-year music drought with “Lemon,” featuring Rihanna.
After a tease from Pharrell on Halloween, N*E*R*D, made up of Chad Hugo, Pharrell Williams and Shay Haley, officially premiered their newest song on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show. Though originally released as a single through the radio show, the song was accompanied by a video featuring Rihanna, who also appears on the track.

The video starts with Rihanna sitting on the bed, shaving the curls off of the head of another woman, Mette Towley. Towley is part of Pharrell’s group of backup singers called “The Baes.”
After the initial bedroom scene, the woman becomes the center of the video as she dances throughout what appears to be a clothing and arcade store. All the while, Pharrell and Rihanna rapping â yes rapping â in the background.
This weekend, N*E*R*D is headlining ComplexCon, marking their first live show since Tyler, The Creator’s festival, Camp Flog Gnaw, back in 2014. Hints of the group’s return were placed all throughout Camp Flog Gnaw this summer, alluding to new music or content being released.
