Syd The Kyd Releases New Single, Announces Tour

Syd adds an eclipse music release to her repertoire

The Internet, the band, had many of their fans hopeful for new music because of the now-passed eclipse. Their reply to a tweet wasn’t what fans wanted.

Little did the fans know, lead singer Syd the Kyd, born Sydney Bennett, was gearing up to release a new single on SoundCloud on the very day fans were hoping for new music from The Internet.

It hasn’t been too long since her February album, Fin, came out, but she’s back from the heavy-hotted summer with “Bad Dream/ No Looking Back.” The first part of the single, “Bad Dream” was produced by Gwen Bunn whereas the second part, “No Looking Back” is credited to producer Ricci Riera. The single is part of the upcoming feature soundtrack Always Never Home. Yesterday afternoon, she announced on Twitter that the soundtrack is releasing on September 8.

The single artwork shows her casually sitting and relaxing in front of two televisions that are placed on top of one another and a single screen turned on with her face creepily looking back toward the camera. On the table where she unbends her knees and legs, lies a camera, a VCR tape, a notebook and a lighter. The vision and execution for the artwork came from Paulo Calle, Alexandria Bruce, Kwesi Salaman, Matt Kaplan and J Williams, she noted on Twitter.

The song is just what we expect from Syd with her sensual tone and voluptuous tunes. The song itself is as calm as she is on the album cover. Her songs just get saucier every time and it’s too much for a heart to handle. The song really envisions a dream when that long wavy ring plays at the beginning the second we press play. It resonates a lullaby, and then vigorously fades out into a deep and distorted noise.

While ramping up the release of her album, she also took to Twitter to announce some solo tour dates for her fall “Always Never Home Tour.” Tickets go on sale August 25 at 10 a.m.

Keep on the look out for the new release next month.
