Kendrick Lamar follows To Pimp A Butterfly with newest album.
After having released the lead single and its video, Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. is officially out, following the announcement of its release date last week.
A little more than a year ago, Lamar released his last project–a compilation of music of sorts titled untitled unmastered. In a fashion only Top Dawg Entertainment CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith and Lamar would be able to explain, Lamar kicked off the rollout of new music by ending a multi-week social media hiatus with an image of a roman numeral “IV.” There were speculations that this was the official announcement for what is now known as DAMN., but it, in fact, was the cover art for a new song, “The Heart Part 4.”

In the song, Lamar addresses a number of topics ranging from President Donald Trump and Russia to who he believes to be the greatest rapper alive–himself. At the end of the song, Lamar gives a warning to no one in particular that they “got till April the 7 to get y’all sh– together.” Speculation began to run rampant that the release of his album would be on April 7, but when the date came around all fans had was the lead single that released a couple days prior and the ability to preorder the album with a release date set a week later.
“HUMBLE.,” the lead single off of DAMN., was to set to be released on April 7, but, according to a guess by a fan, it wasn’t pushed out sooner.
