Future releases first project of 2017
After having started the year with almost no social media interaction or announcements of any sort, Future released a new album and tour to follow.
Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, better known by his stage name “Future,” has been abuzz since the announcement of his self-titled album. He announced the release of his new album as many artists have become accustomed to–short notice and a digital release. The announcement came earlier this week in what was the first post on the artists’ Instagram account after he had previously purged all of its contents. The album follows his release of EVOL last year and the mixtape Purple Reign.

Though tags are absent from the songs playing on the album, the album features production from notorious producers such as DJ Khaled, TM88, Southside, DJ Spinz, Dun Deal, Jake One, long-time-Future-collaborator Metro Boomin, Zaytoven and more. At 17 tracks, FUTURE is the longest project released by the artist since his 2012-reissue release Pluto 3D.
It’s tough to compare any two of his projects as they are all different in their own way, but this particular one is sonically different than anything he’s put out recently. Some of the album’s songs feel similar in tempo and lyrical style to recent releases he’s had, but as a whole it has its own sound. From the president to his former love, Future taps on multiple topics with this one.
The release of the album comes on the heels of his upcoming “Nobody Safe Tour.” The tour features artists Migos, Tory Lanez and Kodak Black with Young Thug and A$AP Ferg joining him on select dates.
