An unexpected, yet much anticipated announcement was made out of the Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) camp this week.
TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith posted an image of a whiteboard with a list of releases scheduled for the TDE camp. Fans have been waiting to hear more information on what was coming up next, but were left with proverbial “new music coming soon” messages from members of the label. With the update, Top showed that every member is on board (no pun intended) and prepared to release a project in 2016.

The fans weren’t the only ones upset with Top for not having any updates on projects. TDE’s own Ab-Soul posted a series of tweets recognizing the lack of release, causing fans to begin to speculate whether or not Ab-Soul’s days at TDE were numbered. Top immediately downplayed any such rumors by responding to Ab-Soul’s tweets and telling him he better be ready when his number is called. Oftentimes with the amount of coverage Kendrick Lamar receives, it would be plausible that other members feel their projects are on the backburner, when they may or may not be.

UPDATE: Top released another update on Instagram, writing that he will be releasing a new TDE project this week. Though he wrote he won’t be revealing exactly which artist and what project they will be releasing, it’s fairly easy to tell who the top two candidates are.
Judging from his previous update, Ab-Soul and ScHoolboy Q are both seemingly the front runners to release a new project. ScHoolboy Q’s project is listed as being in the sample clearance stage (which could take a while depending on the number of clearances needed and who the clearances need to go by). Ab-Soul, on the other hand, is listed as having his project being mixed. The mixing stage is one of the final parts of the completion of an album, even past the clearance stage.
He also alluded to the release of his forthcoming project in early February:

There’s no definite date on when the project is coming, but it could be released today or even two days from now. Keep your eyes peeled.
Here’s a list of the last project released by each member of TDE:
