45s and 40s: The Beginning

This is the beginning of what will hopefully be a long-lasting website. The name 45s and 40s comes from the inspiration that led me to create the site. The “45s” is a term also used to describe vinyl records—the source of the music, which is one aspect of the website. The second, “40s”, comes from the 40oz beers that is prominent in some parts of the Hip-hop culture. Not that this site is about beer, but the name signifies the influence the Hip-hop culture had on my decision to create the site.

This website won’t be solely about Hip-hop, I’m looking to create a location where people can find news, music and more from all corners of music. I’m hoping this becomes a gateway for people to find new music or even delve into genres they may not have heard before. The picture quality won’t be as bad as the header on this, but here’s to hoping it’s a great time.
Hensley Carrasco
Hensley graduated from the University of Rhode Island where he was the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, the Good 5 Cent Cigar. He founded the site with hopes to add to the ever-growing digital music newsroom. Hensley generally writes about Hip-Hop, but other genres are not out of his writing spectrum. On the side, Hensley is a photographer, specializing in concert photography.
