Pusha T releases new visuals and throws a couple jabs with new track.
Not to be confused with your mother’s favorite home and garden network, “H.G.T.V.” brings the raw and gritty rap that Pusha T recites so well.
Gearing up for the release of his next album, Darkest Before Dawn, on December 18, Pusha T released the visuals for his song “H.G.T.V.” today, likely a cut on the upcoming project. The video for the song bring what Pusha T fans are so used to, but don’t get sick of; minimalistic visuals so that the focus of the music is on the lyrics. Guided by the direction of Yung Jake, Pusha T takes a seat in a white room with a camera revolving around him as he sits as the axis. Changing of clothes, visual effects and a black and white effect all help visualize the Mike WiLL Made-It-produced track.
Cleverly enough, Pusha T premiered the video on the social media application Snapchat. Though it couldn’t be directly uploaded as one whole video, it was broken down into 10 second increments–the maximum time allowed by the application. The video was entirely shot in portrait orientation and is designed to be best viewed vertically on a smartphone.
The black and white visuals isn’t new to Pusha T as he’s used it on other songs such as “Nosetalgia” and his “Sweet” freestyle. Though he limits the number of videos he releases the scheme remains on the artwork for his songs and albums–most recently with the cover for “Circles” with Desiigner and Ty Dolla $ign and “Drug Dealers Anonymous” with Jay Z.
Push defends his good friend Desiigner on the track, “Don’t listen to ’em, Desiigner/ The same rappers talkin’ next year will be Uber drivers,” and sends a shot more than likely aimed at longtime rap rivals Drake and Lil’ Wayne; “It’s too far gone when the realest ain’t real/ I walk amongst the clouds, so your ceilings ain’t real.”
Push has recently endorsed Hillary Clinton’s campaign and she has even promoted a meet and greet with him. If the G.O.O.D. Music President Pusha T ran for office, would he have your vote?
