Justin Timberlake Returns From Hiatus, Releases New Up-Tempo Song

Justin Timberlake

After having been musically quiet for the past couple of years, Justin Timberlake took to Twitter to announce the release of his newest single.

After spending the last couple of days alluding to the release of a single, Timberlake revealed the title after being asked by a fan to give out any more information. “Can’t Stop The Feeling” was originally scheduled to have been released tonight at midnight, but, as is with a lot of music on the internet, it leaked early. The early leak could have possibly been due to its release on iTunes.

Fans may remember JT as a with his R&B sound, but this track is a dance song with a pop feel to it. It’s high-tempo, a lot of energy and features a bass-line similar to that of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five’s “The Message.” The song comes as a release for the upcoming Dreamworks Animation film Trolls–to be released this year.

Timberlake hasn’t released an album since the dual-album The 20/20 Experience and The 20/20 Experience 2 dropped in 2013. According to a 2012 article by The Hollywood Reporter, Timberlake was set to work on the soundtrack for The Devil in the Deep Blue Sea, which is scheduled to be released this year. Other than working on that and the posting of pictures of him with his musician friends, there hasn’t been much in the form of music coming out of the Timberlake camp.

Listen to the track below and go grab it on iTunes.

Update: There is a “first listen” video out for it too.
