In a statement posted to their Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts yesterday, indie-rock band Foals announced that their bassist, Walter Gervers, is leaving the band.

The band wrote that Gervers was leaving in order “to pursue a new life.” Though he decided to leave the band, they write that they will remain “firm friends” and wished him well in his future endeavors.

“We want to thank him for all his time & energy & passion & we want to thank you for all your support from the early days & into the future.” -Foals

The split won’t affect their music. They wrote they will continue to make music and work on their fifth album.
