Childish Gambino continues riding the wave of his previous single with “Redbone.”

Days after releasing the first single off of his next album, …Awaken, My Love!, actor-artist-comedian Donald Glover dropped a follow-up track, “Redbone.”

Childish Gambino–Donald Glover’s stage name–is definitely working on releasing a project completely different than anything else he’s created. “Redbone,” his second single off of his forthcoming album, has more of an up-tempo beat than its predecessor single.

Annie Mac premiered the song on her BBC Radio 1 show earlier today, liking it so much, she played it twice. The song gives off a vibe similar to that of the 1970’s great Weldon Irvine’s “Morning Sunshine,” except in this case, bouncier.

What we’ve heard so far from the upcoming album, it sounds as though Gambino has found inspiration from legendary musicians. Was it Prince? George Clinton? Al Green? Fans may not know until the entire project is released. Grab …Awaken, My Love! on December 2.
