‘Swervin”…to New Music by Cam Bells

The Prince of PVD releases the first single off of his forthcoming project.

Providence, R.I. has had a steady stream of talent come out of the small city, but not many release consistently and have the staying power Cam Bells has shown.

With the release of Young King, Old Soul just last year, Bells has been working on his followup and we finally know what it will be. Up next for the artist is an R&B project titled CBPVD and “Swervin'” serves as the first single off of the project.

The song was written, performed, produced and mixed by Cam — officially as CBPVD. Cam’s production brings  hi hats, bass and an ubiquitous ambient sound. Subtract the hi hats and the beat has a feeling true to the title of the track — it’s as if a car was driving by and you can hear the muffled bass sounds from the outside of the car.

It’s not Cam’s first instance with R&B. In fact, he has a long-running R&B night and has played sets for one of the most popular R&B nights in Rhode Island — Stay Silent PVD’s “Luv U Better,” which hosts its next installment on May 3 at Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket. Last year, Cam stopped by the I.D. Required podcast to talk to Genn and myself about his last project and also to play an R&B set.
