Pen Griffey looks to hit a home run with his upcoming project
Tiller, 24, saw his celebrity skyrocket with the release of “Don’t” and his first album. Since the album’s release, there hasn’t been much in the way of new content with Tiller as the lead as he had seemingly stepped away from the limelight to work on his own music. However, since his 2015 release, he has been featured on songs and albums with DJ Khaled, Future, Travis Scott, Gucci Mane and even Chris Brown, to name a few. By maintaining relevance to his name, Tiller was successfully able to put out a single in 2016 called “Let Me Explain.”
There hadn’t been anything released by Tiller since–until today. Tiller announced a album by way of a video on his Instagram and released three songs, “Honey,” “Somethin Tells Me” and “Get Mine.”
Various candids including images of himself and images of his daughter are projected in the video along with the title of the album, True To Self. It appears the album will have a heavy influence on things that happened in his personal life.
It isn’t clear whether the three songs released will be simply a couple of songs that didn’t make the album.
If they are to be ranked, “Get Mine,” featuring Atlanta-artist Young Thug, would be at the top of the list. The addition of Young Thug to the song keeps it at a good pace as Thug’s versatility allows him to write lyrics and flow with virtually and song. This is not to say “Honey” and “Somethin Tells Me” aren’t good; however, judging from the cover art for “Somethin Tells Me” and “Get Mine,” the songs are either related or should be listened to in succession.
