NPR has a running musical series titled “Tiny Desk” where they have musicians come in and perform in a more intimate setting, the desk of All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen. In this iteration of the Tiny Desk series, anderson .paak and the Free Nationals performed a couple of tracks from .paak’s critically acclaimed album Malibu. As noted by NPR, .paak capitalized on the opportunities he received. He was featured on Dr. Dre’s Compton and from there rode the wave through the release of Malibu.
